Amanda IlesFor 25 years, Amanda Iles has been finding and telling compelling stories about science and technology. As a writer and communication consultant, she works with clients ranging from small start-ups to household names such as Apple, HP, Intel and Microsoft. Her writing experience spans nearly all facets of the technology industry, including semiconductors, networking and communications, computing platforms, system and application software, biotechnology, medical devices, consumer electronics, renewable energy and games.

Previously, Amanda was an associate partner with The Talbott Group, a small biotech and high tech PR and writing agency in Palo Alto, Calif.; a writer with Regis McKenna Inc., also in Palo Alto; the life sciences editor/reporter for the News Bureau at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; a writer for the California Sea Grant program, based in La Jolla, Calif.; and a research assistant in a developmental neurobiology lab at UC San Diego.

Amanda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology with a minor in philosophy from UC San Diego and a graduate certificate in science communication from UC Santa Cruz. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, trail running, hiking, cooking, learning new things, exploring the area around her Ashland, Oregon, home, and traveling the world – as often and for as long as possible.
